About Us

Mae Hill Frames was founded by Ben Nixon in Asheville, NC in 2013. Nixon spent 12 years in the San Francisco Bay Area studying fine art photography and working with great photographers like Jack Welpott, Arthur Tress, and Arno Rafael Minkkinen.

Although primarily a photographer, Nixon began to recognize the importance of high quality framing. He understood the value of complementing artwork with superior, professionally made frames. Under the guidance of Stefan Kirkeby of Smith Andersen North in CA, he learned the foundation of fine art museum framing. Working very closely with many of the Bay Area artists, collectors, museums and galleries, Nixon has a great talent and understanding for project specific needs.

Mae Hill Frames works directly with Rocky Kenworthy at Dot Editions to create a comprehensive art services business. Dot Editions provides fine art printing, mounting, and art reproduction services.
